Be the Harmony

Oprah and Eckhart have catapulted a momentum!

I am feeling a profound energy occurring as we are in the cusp of the Vernal Equinox and Aries Full Moon [Aries - Think strong, forceful enough to spring tulips up from their winter sleep.] I think I have never before felt the magnitude of such unconditional love energy surrounding me, and so I write. 

The thing I love most about my Healing Touch Quick Steps self-help practice (which is a direct off-shoot from my studies of Jin Shin Jyutsu® self-help) is that when I place my hands on my body, or when I give someone an energy healing session applying the art of Jin Shin Jyutsu®, I am touching Source energy, or Universal Consciousness. This is as Big Picture as it gets – Source, the Source of All Life. And the world is becoming aware of this very same Source in a new way.

On the Monday, March 17^th telecast with Oprah and Eckhart Tolle, someone asked “Who are we beyond the mind?” Eckhart responded that no conceptualization is correct. “Here is a hint,” he said. “We are the formless consciousness behind all that.”

I have been participating in the phenomenal 10 week telecast with Oprah and Eckhart Tolle and I am loving knowing that there are 2 million plus people who are focusing at the same time on allowing more and more of their “Big Picture” [my words] Consciousness to be the “Big Doer” [my words] in their lives. I think it was Oprah who said that night that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience. Eckhart said he feels it is, “I am the consciousness inhabiting this body.”

Recently, our much beloved Mary Burmeister, Founder of Jin Shin Jyutsu® of the West, returned to the Creator, the Eternal Formless. A student wrote a remembrance of her first class experience with Mary in about 1983. She said, “Mary walked into the room, sat down, put her hands in her armpits and said, “I’m giving my best friend a hug.”  Wow! Ponder that. Was she speaking of her "best friend" as the "consciousness inhabiting her body"? Those of you who have already discovered Healing Touch Quick Steps know that what Mary Burmeister was doing when she crossed her arms and placed her fingers in her opposite armpits is called “The Complete Breath Hug.” Thank you Mary.

Being a long-time and now life-long student and practitioner of Jin Shin Jyutsu, I learn that we are all alive because the Formless becomes Form AS us. Knowing the formless, that “consciousness that inhabits this body” as Eckhart calls it, could be a really cumbersome thing to do, requiring more of your sometimes limited time and energy, you might think. "It will take me too long to get there," you might think.

Reconsider. Where does one begin? You’ve already begun by reading this blog, by engaging your mind in thoughts of healing and Oneness; reading Eckhart’s book, participating in the telecast, and by including a daily self-help routine of Healing Touch Quick Steps. This is important because when I place my hands on my body and feel the pulsing of energies flowing, moving, changing in the moment, and my body responding in the movement, surface to deep and deep to surface, I am truly having an effortless (key word, effortless) personal experience of a Formless/Impersonal Source. And, I didn’t know that’s what was going on when I first began doing it 17 years ago. Especially tuning in to Oprah and Eckhart, I'm having my own Aha! moments about healing touch self-help. You have access to the very same Source when you apply your hands with Healing Touch Quick Steps self-help, as simply as placing your fingers in your armpits. Try it.

With the magnificent momentum of unconditional love and Cosmic forces that are surrounding all of us and everything on this planet during this particular Vernal Equinox, and your thoughts of the vastness of  the Formless part of yourself, consider this. The generations being born now will reap the benefits of awakened collective consciousness that were started in the 60's and 70's and 80's and so on. They won't need to go through the challenges many of us have already journeyed. That's effortless for the newcomers.

Author Greg Braden says we only need 8,244 people for a critical mass to cause collective shifts in awareness to occur. Translation: A momentum is with you and everyone in the world right now. Think of the Oprah programming, millions of people engaged [a lot more than 8,244], and, the ever-expanding peace movement, and, the increasing global stewarding movement. Like a rocket shot up into space, there is lift in its tail that carries what is behind it upward too. A lot of fabulous vertical energy moving is going on! Think of all of the people who are awakening every moment to the whole body realization of choosing life and harmony among all species. Ah.

Yes, there is chaos with this huge movement of energy, humanity in great flux, and, there certainly is a marvelous movement of goodness “afoot!” No matter what chaos and goodness are going on in the Universe, Cosmos, Gaia, and your own body and little every day world, remember adding Healing Touch Quick Steps is one of the easiest, most effortless ways for you to connect with Source, the Formless consciousness that is inhabiting your body, anytime, anywhere, in a very palpable, ever-expanding way. How great is that? Feel it pulsing. Listen for your harmony. It’s waiting to be heard!

A Tribute to Mary Burmeister (1918-2008)

My Time with Mary Burmeister...

One of my greatest teachers, Mary Burmeister, left this earth plane on January 27, 2008. Mary was the diminutive 4'11" powerhouse of a woman who brought the healing art of Jin Shin Jyutsu® to the United States. I wrote this as a tribute to her.

I feel truly blessed to have had about 30 sessions with Mary. Every session was an opportunity to be with her, to ask her questions. I often wrote in my journal about my experiences with Mary after a session with her, so I’d remember what she said. 

My very first Jin Shin Jyutsu session with Mary was March 29, 1994. I came to her needing big help. After she walked around the massage table, paying attention to every little detail, smoothing out the wrinkles in my clothes, touching the inside arches of each of my feet, she held my wrists and listened. Then she said: “You are a very good communicator.” 

In that first session I felt a lot of pain. I’d say, “That really hurts.” Mary then said: “Good, now you know what it will be like when it’s gone.”  And of course, to my delight, the next day’s session was less painful. After a couple of the sessions with Mary she’d say to me: “Take it as easy as you can today. The body is in charge and it isn’t allowing any stress.” 

I remember Mary saying “Thank you God” a lot during my sessions. (I know I needed it.) She’d ask God to “Please take away the pain,” “Please take care for her, God,” and “Please heal this body.” And, then a short time later, she’d say, “Thank you God.” 

Here are a few other things Mary said during that first week of sessions. 

“Each of us is a small, exact replicated Universe of a larger universe. Only the larger Universe is smarter!” 

I asked Mary if the pain was going away forever. She said, “Yes, you don’t need this anymore.” I asked what I could do to make sure it wouldn’t come back. She said, “Stop thinking!” 

I asked her if she ever visited people in their dreams. She said, “Yes.” I told her she had visited me one night during the Colorado Springs class the year before. She said, “Oh good. When I get ‘home’ I’ll get all dressed up and come down and visit your class.”

In one particular journal entry I note that Mary was speaking about her childhood during our session. I heard her say she was the oldest of three sisters. She said she was a loner, didn’t have many friends. She always wanted to stay home and study, read books. If someone wanted to eat lunch with her (she usually ate alone), she would eat lunch with them and then go back to being alone. 

I saw Mary for sessions every six months for the first few years and then once a year after that for a while. During a session with Mary on October 22, 1998, I was experiencing an overwhelming amount of phlegm in my sinuses. I said, “I just wish God would take away this phlegm in my throat.” Mary said, “Yes, I know.” She immediately cleared her own throat and in that moment, my throat cleared.  That group of sessions seemed to be one of the most difficult for me with my breathing. Some time after those sessions, I wrote in my journal that my lungs and respiratory functions seemed a lot lighter than they had been in the past few years. 

Another time, I asked Mary if she knew if God had a ‘Divine Mother’ part. She said, “I don’t know. I just know God is all that is.” 

I think I had my last group of sessions with Mary in October of 1999. She was moving around much less easily, using a sturdy cane. She doesn’t hear too well, isn’t paying much attention unless I am looking right at her. Then she grasps my words. She says she only remembers today, this moment. She isn’t thinking past or future. I was wearing a pair of black print pants and a blue denim blouse, and Mary said, “I love your pants.” “I wear black pants and blue like this on Wednesdays,” she said. I heard Mary say a number of times that she was ready for God to bring her home anytime. I asked her things about herself. I asked her who her favorite teachers were. She named five in this order: “My father, Jiro Murai, Jesus Christ and Paracelsus.” [I have forgotten the fifth teacher’s name.] 

I asked Mary what she liked to eat. She said, “Anything. I eat two bites of this, two bites of that. I eat 6 to 8 bites and that is all. I am not hungry, and I do not get skinny.” I said that was probably because she is in tune with Jin Shin Jyutsu. She liked that ‘in tune’ idea. She said, “Yes, I like that.”

We discussed breatharians who receive nourishment from the breath. I said that would make sense with Mary since the Impersonal Self is the inhale and the exhale. Mary said, “Yes, I just thought it was because I was working too much.” 

At the end of what would be my last session with Mary, I gave her a hug and thanked her for her Presence. I said I’ll see you next year. She said, “I’ll think of you every day.” I playfully challenged that by saying, “Yeah, sure.” Mary looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Yes, I will. I will talk with God every day for you.” 

Thank you, Mary, for your honesty, your sense of humor, your life and presence. Thank you for being one of my greatest teachers. I love you. Have FUN wherever you are.
